Tommy Jones
Tommy Jones - Piano
Veteran of stage and studio, Tommy began playing rock and roll in "big hair" bands of the late 1980s and early 1990s, all the while secretly concocting dramatic electronic noises in the studio to suite his own tastes. After a long time of recording, Tommy once again got a hunger for playing live music and put together "Tommy Jones, the Band". Part urge to play live, part urge to prove he still could, TJtheB was short lived and Tommy found himself listening to the first 'ere album from 2004 and wondering if the guys wanted to do another project.
Not only were the guys willing, but JT knew a great drummer that could fill in where Mike left off and a jam was scheduled. Everyone in the band knew immediately that this was something special, and the new iteration of 'ere was born.
Tommy's influence can be heard in the 70s jazz and 80s funk rhythms of the piano. He cites his heroes as Chick Corea, Herbie Handcock, Dave Brubeck, Elton John, Billy Joel, to name a few. His early metal influence is sublte, but detectable in some of the runs that sound like they would more likely come from a hard rock guitar rather than a jazz piano.
Tommy has 4 solo albums with Digi-ONE Records and has a 5th due out sometime this year. He produces his own material as well as the first two albums from 'ere. He also plays on occasion with a novel rockabilly act known as "Slim Chickens" as a hired gun on piano/organ.
Tommy is looking forward to new live performances with 'ere and hopes to see you there.
